To admire the vastness of the Milky Way…
The protected area of the Mont-Mégantic International Dark Sky Reserve welcomes you.
Summit Drive is also a gateway to the protected night sky, thanks to the Dark Sky Reserve.
But what is the Mont-Mégantic International Dark Sky Reserve?
Centred on the Mont-Mégantic National Park and Observatory, the Mont-Mégantic International Dark Sky Reserve (MMIDSR) currently measures about 5,300 square kilometres and covers a 50 km radius around Mont Mégantic. It protects the darkness of the sky so that the stars can be observed all over its territory.
On Summit Drive, the sky invites you to an extraordinary spectacle, starring … the stars!
You can see this display while camping, at rest stops equipped with reclined benches designed especially for stargazing, at ASTROLab, which reveals the secrets of the Universe, and even at the public observatory perched on the summit of Mont-Mégantic. Don’t forget the lookout point at Maison du Granit or evenings organized at various locations during the Perseids.
Discovering the dark sky is a must as you explore Summit Drive!
