Rated among the top three most beautiful panoramas in Quebec. A century-old chapel, visited by many hikers, awaits you at the summit and invites you for some contemplation.

In August 1878, Father Ferdinand Corriveault and a group of settlers from Notre-Dame-des-Bois raised a cross on the summit of the mountain. In 1880, they also built a chapel dedicated to Saint Joseph in the same spot to obtain his protection from the frequent storms in the region. Pilgrimages became commonplace starting in 1918, with the first pilgrimage initiated by the parish priest, Raoul Dubé.

Still today, some faithful climb up together on Sundays in summer. They undertake the difficult ascent to attend Mass in the afternoon, which makes for several thousand visits from year to year. They come to pray, of course, but also for the landscape.

It’s easy to access the mountain, even by car. In addition to the chapel, it has two shelters. A rocky cape, a little grotto and a lookout area over the Appalachian mountains await you. It’s an opportunity to be in communion with nature, in every sense of the word!
