Mont Victoria, along with Mont Mégantic and Mont Saint-Joseph, is part of the Mont Mégantic massif. It’s covered with abundant vegetation: deciduous, mixed and coniferous forests will give you your fill of chlorophyll and the fresh smell of pine! The coniferous boreal forest, which is on the mountain between the altitudes of 900 and 1,105 metres, is called the mountain sorrel pine forest, which is very rare in Quebec. Its rarity is due to the combination of a tree layer almost exclusively comprised of balsam firs with herbaceous plants mainly comprised of mountain sorrel. The high altitude of this forest makes it more difficult to access, and the lower commercial quality of its trees means that it was never logged. This is why it’s classified as “old growth.” It’s filled with riches for those who appreciate them. Combine the climb of Mont Victoria with that of Mont Saint-Joseph and Mont Mégantic, and you’ve got yourself a real athletic challenge!
